TheMART, Chicago.

Size matters

About the project

When opened in 1930, TheMART (formerly known as The Merchandise Mart) in Chicago was the largest building in the world in square feet. The building is so large, it even had its own ZIP code until 2008! Its art-deco structure is one of a kind, and the building has been owned by the Kennedy family for over half a century (now owned by Vornado Realty Trust).

Nowadays, the building is just as iconic as when it opened. Since 2018, artwork at the size of 2 football fields is projected on the building. With a continuous rise in demand, its bike room now holds space for up to 350 bikes.
