We’re very pleased to announce the winner and runner up of the 2019 Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow Competition – a competition that celebrates the most creative, innovative and practical end-of-trip facility design of the year.
The winner: Grimshaw Architects (477 Collins Street, Melbourne – owned by Mirvac)
We see over a dozen plans a week of major bicycle parking and change room facilities, and it is always a pleasure to come across one that looks like it’s fresh off our table. It was pretty clear we had found ourselves a winner when we struggled to find any way of improving on iit. This end-of-trip design has a great ratio of bikes, lockers and showers, and there is a clear, easy user journey through the space. Additional features such as unisex change rooms and parking for cargo bikes take this facility to the absolute next level. This plan is a real beauty.
The runner up: Gray Puksand (420 George Street, Sydney – owned by Investa)
The end-of-trip design from our runner up is a perfectly proportioned plan. The space offers a great balance of efficiency and amenity, and includes island bench seating and beautiful mirrors. We especially love its pleasant climate and atmosphere. If you have the chance, we highly recommend you visit this recently finished facility.
