PIF Ride

January 20, 2016

To continue the philanthropic spirit, we have decided to once again support the Property Industry Foundation (PIF) Corporate Cycling Day scheduled for this November. Five At Heart sponsored and participated in the 2015 event, which was a huge success and exceeded the fund raising target of $60,000.

PIF raise and distribute donations from the property and construction industries to a range of organisations, with the goal of ‘helping young people at risk.’ In their own words, ‘PIF has proven to be very successful as a forum and a philanthropic focal point for people in the property and construction industry to use their skills and resources to help solve the important community problem of youth homelessness.’

For this event, around 140 keen cyclists donned the lycra and braved the elements (it began to rain just as they set off, and got progressively heavier) to ride either a 91km or 58km course around the scenic Mornington Peninsula. The rest of us stayed (sensibly, you could argue) undercover and dry as we assisted with voluntary jobs and set up for the lunch and auction.

A few unlucky riders were back early with minor bike issues (or missing a bit of bark!) but by the time everyone was seated for lunch, it was well-deserved beers all round to kick off the charity auction. Shout out to Mark Rossiter and his favourite red bike for soldiering on and finishing strong for Five At Heart!
